Hamakua Biomass Energy Plant
Hamakua Biomass Energy Plant is a Hawaii owned IPP self-certified qualifying facility under The Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act (PURPA). The proposed plant has a 30 Megawatt capacity with secured on island long term sustainable biomass fuel production to supply the power plant. The proposed plans utilize state of the art 30 mW B&W internal recirculation with a circulation fluidized boiler and a Mitsubishi Steam Turbine generator.
Hamakua is located 1 mile north of O’okala on the Big Island of Hawaii. It is a 63 acre Eucalyptus Plantation parcel with 30 acres ready for the build of the biomass processing and power plant.
